Celebrating My County

As part of National County Government month activities, students in Ocean County again created posters choosing what they consider the best qualities of a County that is home to more than 650,000 residents. The contest winners – all fourth graders – were recently honored by the Ocean County Board of Commissioners along with Ocean County Clerk Scott M. Colabella. The first place winner was Anna Buttacavoli of St. Joseph School, Toms River; second place winner, Lucas Placa, Long Beach Island Grade School; third place winner, Annabel Romero Rojas, Clifton Ave. School, Lakewood, and honorable mention, Zoe Vasquez, St. Dominic’s School, Brick. Ocean County Clerk Colabella, who leads the annual poster contest, noted that 58 fourth grade pupils entered the contest from 23 schools in Ocean County. The contest winners were selected by the public who cast their “likes” for their favorite poster on Facebook. “This poster contest is a great way to teach our young residents the many attributes Ocean County has to offer,” said Deputy Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Gary Quinn, who is liaison to the Ocean County Clerk’s office. “The Ocean County Board of Commissioners extends its appreciation to all the students who participated in this annual event.”
