Breaking Ground on Skills and Homes
Members of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners joined Ocean County Vocational Technical School students and professionals, Berkeley Township officials, community partners and donors for the ceremonial start of a new home in Berkeley Township on Nov. 13. Built by students in the OCVTS New Home Construction program, this one-story, 1,800 square foot home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms provides hands-on experience in every phase of construction, from foundation to finishing, preparing students for careers in the growing skilled trades industry under the supervision of licensed instructors and industry professionals.
The New Home Construction program is an accelerated training programs for adults offered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools in response to the growing demand for skilled construction workers.
