Celebrating America’s History
While the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution is in 2026, this year’s event highlighted the Boston Tea Party, which took place 250 years ago on Dec. 16, 1773. Ocean County Commissioner Virginia E. Haines, who is liaison to the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, and also serves as the Regent of Joshua Huddy National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was joined with members of the New Jersey Society of Sons of the American Revolution and the NJDAR, students from local high schools and historical society members in recognizing the significance of the Boston Tea Party in our nation’s history. Period music was provided throughout the program by Anne and Ridley Enslow. In addition, the New Jersey Fifes and Drums and the First New Jersey Loyalists were in attendance.
