Commemorating History

Dedicated during an unveiling ceremony on Oct. 5, members of the Captain Joshua Huddy Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution joined with members of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners, State officials, Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission members, DAR members, Sons of the American Revolution members and other attendees in unveiling the plaque provided by the Captain Joshua Huddy Chapter of the DAR and funded by a grant from the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission. The event’s master of ceremonies was Ocean County Commissioner Virginia E. Haines, who is also the Captain Joseph Huddy Chapter Regent. Joining her in unveiling the plaque were Karen Kennedy, Captain Joshua Huddy Chapter America 250! Committee Chair, and Timothy G. Hart, Division Director of the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Division. Presenting proclamations recognizing the unveiling and the plaque’s significance as we approach the 250^th Birthday of America in 2026, were Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Barbara Jo Crea, and State Sen. Carmen Amato, 9^th Legislative District, joined by 10^th District State Sen. James W. Holzapfel, and 9^th District State Assemblyman Brian Rumpf. Holzapfel gave the keynote address during the ceremony. Members of Boy Scout Troop 50 and Venture Crew 129 served as the Color Guard for the event.  The National Anthem was sung by Julia Rose Violante.
