Happy 175th Birthday Ocean County

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners, joined by members of the Ocean County Government staff, members of the cultural, heritage and arts communities, and residents, kicked off the County’s 175th anniversary known as a demisemiseptcentennial with a ceremony and the burial of a time capsule at the Ocean County Administration Building, Toms River on Feb. 27. Commissioner Robert S. Arace, liaison to Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Division served as the Master of Ceremonies and was joined by Deputy Director of the Board of Commissioners Frank Sadeghi and Commissioners Virginia E. Haines and Jennifier Bacchione. Also in attendance were 9th District State Sen. Carmen Amato, Ocean County’s Acting County Clerk John Catalano, Surrogate Jeffrey W. Moran, Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy, and Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer all joining a full house in the meeting room of the Administration Building. “I am happy to say we have collected more than 60 items from nearly 30 Ocean County departments and agencies that have been strategically placed in the time capsule along with personal notes from the Commissioners,” said Arace as he reviewed some of the items placed in the capsule. “When this capsule is opened, all of this will paint a picture of what is truly one of the most incredible places anywhere – Ocean County.”
