Helping Hands

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners joined the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau and WBNJ 91.9 FM to host a food drive for the Military Support Alliance Food Warriors Program. The event took place on Oct. 5 outside the Ocean County Southern Service Center in Manahawkin. Residents from across Ocean County stopped by to drop off food donations throughout the morning. Deputy Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Gary Quinn, who serves as liaison to the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau, was also on hand to help unload a pickup truck filled with boxes of non-perishable food items that were donated by the Ocean County government staff. The food collected during the drive will be distributed to families stationed at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst through the Food Warriors program, which started two years ago to help families of the active service men and women stationed at the Joint Base.
