Led by the Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners Joseph H. Vicari, Ocean County’s annual Day of Remembrance Ceremony marked the 22nd anniversary of the devastating events that unfolded on Sept. 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93.
Raising Awareness and Remembering
Ocean County Commissioners joined with Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and members of the Prosecutor’s Office to recognize Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31. In honor of those Ocean County residents that have died from fatal overdoses, a purple pinwheel garden was placed outside the Prosecutor’s Office at 119 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.
Recognizing the Winners
As part of National County Government month activities, fourth graders in Ocean County again created posters choosing what they consider the best qualities of a County that is home to more than 650,000 residents.
Recycling Recycling Igloos
It’s not every day when you get to describe a recycling container with phrases like eye-catching, colorfully striking, and attention grabbing. But a group of high school students at Brick Memorial High School took their creative and artistic skills and transformed faded and old recycling igloos into more than just useable recycling containers but works of art.

The Ocean County Police Academy graduated 47 new police officers during a graduation ceremony June 8 at Georgian Court University, Lakewood.
