Safer Roads Ahead
LAKEWOOD – Ocean County Commissioners Frank Sadeghi and Virginia E. Haines joined with Ocean County officials, Lakewood officials and project partners for a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 27 at the intersection of Cross Street and Augusta Boulevard, here, to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the Cross Street Improvement Project. The completion of a third lane on Cross Street between Route 9 and Augusta Boulevard includes a new center lane featuring a turning lane in both directions which is anticipated to make the road safer and help with the flow of traffic through the area. “Ocean County has made a commitment to build a local government that is in touch with the changing needs of the community,” said Sadeghi. “This project is one of the ways to address those needs in an expedited manner.”
In addition to celebrating the completion of phase one, officials joined in a ceremonial groundbreaking on the beginning of the second phase of the project which is expected to begin within the coming year and continue through the project’s completion anticipated in 2027.
