Street Smart
Law Enforcement officers and traffic safety officials from around Ocean County and the state gathered in Harvey Cedars prior to the Memorial Day weekend for the 2025 kickoff of Street Smart NJ. The important program hopes to raise awareness about pedestrian safety. Long Beach Island was chosen for the start of the campaign because of the large number of pedestrians and visitors that arrive on the Island during the summer months. Frank Sadeghi, Deputy Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners said the campaign’s goal of zero traffic deaths is reachable. “Raising public awareness is vital in helping to save lives and prevent injuries on our roads – especially during the summer season when we host thousands of visitors in our shore towns,” Sadeghi said.
