{"id":81,"date":"2025-05-16T11:26:03","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T11:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/co.ocean.nj.us\/OC\/OCDHS\/HSGalleryWP\/?p=81"},"modified":"2025-05-16T11:29:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T11:29:14","slug":"womens-advocate-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/co.ocean.nj.us\/OC\/OCDHS\/HSGalleryWP\/womens-advocate-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s Advocate of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ocean County Advisory Commission on the Status of Women brought the month of March \u2013 Women\u2019s History Month \u2013 to a close by honoring the achievements of women, in particular, Deanna Sperling, President and Chief Executive Officer of Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center and Senior Vice President of Behavioral Health Services for the RWJBH Behavioral Health service line, who was named the 2025 Women\u2019s Advocate of the Year. <!--more-->Surrounded by family, friends and colleagues, Sperling was presented honoring proclamations from Ocean County Commissioner Virginia E. Haines, liaison to the Advisory Commission on the Status of Women, on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and Toms River Township Council President Justin D. Lamb and received personal tributes from her son and daughter. Susan Sedevic, Chairwoman of the Women\u2019s Commission was joined by Glynis Wray, Commission Vice Chair in presenting the Women\u2019s Advocate of the Year award to Sperling. The Women\u2019s Commission developed the Women\u2019s Advocate of the Year Award to recognize an agency, organization, program or individual that has demonstrated a personal commitment to women\u2019s issues and has advocated for improved services for women in Ocean County.<\/p>\n<p>Also recognized during the event were the Women\u2019s History Month Art Contest winners. The contest theme was Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations. The winning entries and their categories were: Best Fine Art \u2013 Grade 6 \u2013 Alexandra Wisniewski -Toms River Intermediate East; Best Digital Art \u2013 Grade 6 \u2013 Daniel Andreev \u2013 Lavallette Elementary School; Best Overall \u2013 Grade 6 \u2013 Melania Pernigotti \u2013 Veterans Memorial Middle School; Best Fine Art \u2013 Grade 7 \u2013 Heyli Lujan \u2013 Lakewood Middle School; Best Overall \u2013 Grade 7 \u2013 June Kunze \u2013 Manchester Township Middle School; Best Fine Art \u2013 Grade 8 \u2013 Nina Bohichik \u2013 Carl W.
