(Toms River) – The Ocean County Health Department (OCHD) is offering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at the Toms River clinic located at the RWJ Barnabas Healthcare Arena. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently expanded the use of the Pfizer 2-dose vaccine to include individuals aged 12 and older.

Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is the only one of 3 vaccines available to children 12 and older. Individuals under the age of 18 must provide a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

The Wednesday clinic expanded its hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Thursday clinic will remain 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Moderna vaccine will still be available at each clinic along with the Pfizer.

Revised OCHD COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule for remainder of the week at the RWJ Barnabas Healthcare Arena:

• Wednesday, May 26, 2021: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Pfizer & Moderna vaccines available
• Thursday, May 27, 2021: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Pfizer & Moderna vaccines available

Appointments recommended but walk-ins are welcome. Residents can book an appointment by visiting www.ochd.org.

The OCHD vaccine clinics recently surpassed the 100,000 dose administered milestone.
