Affair at Cedar Bridge Tavern – Sunday, December 6, 2026
The last documented land engagement of the American Revolution took place in what is now Ocean County on December 27, 1782. A very few other naval engagements occurred after this in places such as Arkansas and India. The location of the engagement is purported to be at the site of the c.1816 Ocean County Cedar Bridge Tavern Historic Site. Other historians claim the event took place at Cedar Creek between what is now Lacey and Berkeley Townships. The fully restored Tavern is open from Thursdays through Monday. The commemoration is scheduled for the first Sunday of December from 9AM to 4PM. For more information visit the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission’s Cedar Bridge Tavern page.
