Historic Documentary Videos

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners is proud to provide documentaries concerning the American Revolution in what is now Ocean County.

Ocean County presents a series of documentaries “The American Revolution in Ocean County Trail” produced by Oak Leaf Media of Tuckerton New Jersey funded in part by a National Park Service Battlefield Preservation grant.

In 1976, the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission and the Ocean County Historical Society combined to create a comprehensive dramatization of the March 24, 1782 incident at the Toms River Blockhouse (20:22). Oak Leaf Media recorded a rendition of Valarie Vaughn’s Song about protagonist John Bacon (5:12). Stockton University graduate and film maker Tori Robbins offers her take on the life, times and death of John Bacon. The students of Lacey High School produced a five minute documentary on the Affair at Egg Harbor Historical Society in tribute to the 2026 Ocean County Special Award of Merit at the Salute to Ocean County (5:16).
