Happy 175th Birthday Ocean County

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners, joined by members of the Ocean County Government staff, members of the cultural, heritage and arts communities, and residents, kicked off the County’s 175th anniversary known as a demisemiseptcentennial with a ceremony and the burial of a time capsule at the Ocean County Administration Building, Toms River on Feb. 27.

Thank You for Your Service

The services of the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau were highlighted during the Feb. 19 Ocean County Board of Commissioners meeting. Veterans representing each branch of the military attended the meeting and noted how the work of the bureau has helped them following their service to our country.

The Ocean County Police Academy Basic Police Recruit Class #119 marked the completion of their intensive academy training during Graduation Ceremonies at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, on Feb. 14.

JBJ Soul Kitchen Pops Up at the Ocean County Library

The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library is now also the newest location for the JBJ Soul Kitchen Pop-Up. This expansion furthers the JBJ Soul Foundation’s commitment to combating food insecurity and fostering a welcoming space where all individuals can enjoy a nutritious meal, regardless of their ability to pay.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Rutgers Master Gardeners Class of 2024 was recognized during its recent graduation ceremony highlighting the students’ success with in-depth, hands-on training they received in horticulture from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey faculty and professional staff. Ocean County Commissioner Virginia E. Haines, liaison to Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Ocean County, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and extended her appreciation to them for helping make Ocean County beautiful.
