5/2/2025 - May 7 Public Information Session Set for Kennedy Boulevard and County Line Road Improvements in Lakewood

COUNTY, STATE and local officials will unveil proposed upgrades to the Kennedy Boulevard and County Line Road corridor during a public information session set for Wednesday, May 7 in Lakewood Township.

"We are seeking the public's input as we plan these important traffic and safety improvements," said John P. Kelly, Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners. "Community participation is a vital component of our planning process."

The session will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lakewood Municipal Courthouse, 231 3rd Street in Lakewood Township. A presentation will begin a 7 p.m.

The preliminary study is federally funded through the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA).

Kelly, who also serves as chairman of the NJTPA, said the session will give the public an opportunity to review and comment on the initial upgrade plans.

"We are still in the very early stages of this project," he said. "We will continue to seek public input as the design phase advances."

Work on the corridor improvements is expected to begin in 2029.

Among the questions that may be addressed on Wednesday, include how the project will affect not only motor vehicle but also pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

A detailed look at the improvements is available at www.countylineandkennedy.com.

A community input survey about the project is also available on the website.

As the project moves ahead, additional updates, photos and study details will be made available online.
