Inmate Visitation Information

  • All visitors must be preregistered.
  • Visitor may preregister in the Jail Lobby or online via this link.
  • There is a 48 hour processing period between registration and scheduling your first visit.

Personal electronic devices are not permitted inside the facility by staff or visitors without the advance authorization of the Warden or his designee.

Personal electronic devices include:

  • Cell phones and camera phones
  • Pagers (all types)
  • Camera (all types)
  • Tape recorders or other recording devices
  • Laptop computers
  • Radios, DVD or CD players
  • iPods or other MP3 devices
  • Any type of Bluetooth technology device
  • Personal flash drives
  • Any other electronic device not of department issue

Denial of Visits

The Shift Commander/OIC may deny visiting privileges to any person when there is reason to believe, or sufficient probability to think that the visit would be a threat to the security of the jail or detrimental to the health and welfare of the inmates.

The Shift Commander/OIC may also deny visits for non-compliance of visiting rules and regulations.

Video Visitation Rules - Friends and Family
  • An opportunity will be provided for eligible inmates at the jail to have two (2) fifteen (15) minute video visits each week.
  • Each inmate will be limited to two visits per week due to time and space limitations to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
  • Visitors are only permitted to enter the facility fifteen minutes prior to their scheduled visit start time. Visitors will remain behind the boundaries that have been established in the lobby area. Visitors will not congregate in the court yard area of building prior nor after their assigned visitation times and must maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Visitors, including children, must pre-register and pre-schedule visits at the visiting kiosk or on the visiting web site. Any visitor not registered for a visit will not be permitted inside the facility.
  • All visitors must clear the metal detector and thermal scanner and are subject to search before entering the visiting area.
  • If a visitor’s temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees, they will not be allowed to remain in the facility.
  • Personal items are not permitted in the building. Visitors will be allowed to enter the building with their photo ID only.
  • No cell phones, electronic devices, gum, cigarettes, lighters, beverages or food, etc. will be allowed in the visiting area.
  • All visitors will be required to wear an approved face covering that covers the nose and mouth area for the duration of the visitation. If the mask is removed or not properly worn the visitor will be asked to leave the facility. Children under the age of 2 will not be required to wear a mask.
  • Visitors will be required to sanitize their assigned video visitation station before and after their visits with the cleaning supplies the facility provides.
  • Visitors must be here and signed in, with enough time to be able to complete the visit during the schedule visiting time. Visitors must also take into consideration any waiting time that may be involved. Visiting times will end on schedule.
  • Visitors must be at least 18 years of age, unless they are married to the inmate, accompanied by a parent, a guardian, or an adult family member.
  • Visitors must have valid government issued photo I.D as described below.
  • A visit may be terminated at any time by the Shift Commander whenever the conduct of the visitor or the inmate is not conducive to the security, tranquility, and good order of the facility or when it would be appropriate to do so under guidelines established in the facility’s emergency procedures.
  • Former inmates of this facility shall not be allowed a visit for at least one year after their release date.
  • Persons who have been incarcerated in any state prison facility shall not be allowed to visit in this institution for at least one year after their release date.
  • Proper attire will be worn at visiting and underwear will not show above pants or your visit will be terminated.
  • The Warden or his designee may approve visits under special circumstances where sufficient cause exists indicating an emergency or other need that cannot be facilitated or would cause undue hardship to the inmate or his family to visit during normal visiting hours.
  • Inmates housed in the Assessment Unit/Cells are ineligible for visits.
  • Inmates in Sanction Housing or Disciplinary Detention will lose visitation privileges.
  • All non-attorney visits are subject to recording and monitoring.

Inmate Visitation Information and Procedures

  • Visitors must pre-register via the video visitation web-site or the visiting kiosk to schedule their visits and must be on the inmates' approved visitor list.
  • All visitors are to report to the visiting lobby 15 minutes prior to their scheduled visit start time. No earlier.
  • Visitors are required to clear the metal detector, thermal scanner, and be searched before entering the visiting lobby.
  • If a visitor’s temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees, they will not be allowed to remain in the facility.
  • Inmate visitors shall sign in with the visiting lobby officer, giving the following information:
    • Full name
    • Address
    • Inmate's name and relationship to inmate
  • Inmate Visitors will be required to identify themselves with one of the following forms of identification:
    • Valid Drivers License from a State in the United States
    • Valid Federal, State or County Picture ID with address of residence
    • Valid College Picture ID with a recent bill with address of residence
    • Valid Welfare card with a recent bill with address of residence
    • Birth certificate with a recent bill with the address of residence
    • Valid Passport
  • Children must be attended to at all times. Your visit may be suspended or terminated if they are not being supervised by an adult.
  • Visitors must comply with all instructions of jail staff or the visit will be terminated
  • Visitors will be required to sanitize their assigned video visitation station before and after their visits with the cleaning supplies the facility provides.
  • All visitors will be required to wear an approved face covering that covers the nose and mouth area for the duration of the visitation. If the mask is removed or not properly worn the visitor will be asked to leave the facility. Children under the age of 2 will not be required to wear a mask.
  • All visitors will present themselves is a manner so as to not overtly offend other visitors by abuses of language, inappropriate actions, or attire.
  • There will be no articles received on visiting days without prior written approval from this Department.

Requirements:
  • Visitors must be approved by the facility to schedule visits.
  • Email address to register and schedule visits.
  • Valid Photo ID for registration and at check-in.
  • A computer or Andriod device with internet, camera, and speakers. A headset or earbuds are highly recommended.
  • Visitor must be checked in with a browser that does supports Adobe Flash. Flash must be enabled on their browser. The Visit Tester walks the visitors through, to determine if their camera, mic, and audio work correctly with Flash, prior to starting visit.
    We suggest using Internet Explorer 11 for browser.
  • All visits must be canceled 24 hours in advance.

Contact Visitation

Contact Visitation Schedule
  • Fridays: 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM


There will be 3 contact visits per time slot for Minimum/Medium Custody Inmates and 2 contact visits per time slot for Maximum Custody Inmates.
  • Visits will be conducted in 30 minute intervals, with visits being 15 minutes in length. This will allow for a thorough search of inmates to be conducted by a Correctional Officers in between visit times.
  • Visitors will report to the visiting lobby.
  • Visits will be conducted in the Contact Visiting Area.

  • Contact Visits Rules
    • Contact visits will only be allowed for approved inmates.
    • Approved inmates will be allowed one contact visit every 30 days.
    • Only inmates who have been incarcerated for at least 90 days are eligible for contact visits.
    • Contact visit requests must be received by the classification unit at least 14 days prior to the requested visit date.
    • Cancellations must be in by 3:00 PM of the Wednesday before the requested visit.
    • There will be a maximum of two (2) adult visitors allowed each visit. All visitors’ names, dates of birth, and social security number must be listed on the request form.
    • Visitors must be here 15 minutes before the scheduled visit time.
    • Any disciplinary guilty decision will result in denial of contact visit for a period of 60 days.
    • No contact visit will be given within 60 days of an inmate's last disciplinary charge when found guilty.
    • If disciplinary time is imposed, the inmate must wait 60 days after release from disciplinary confinement.
    • Inmates will have nothing in their possession during the visit and will be strip-searched before returning to their housing area.
    • During a contact visit, it is permissible for hands to be held above the table. One hug at the end of the visit are permissible.
    • No school aged children are permitted to visit during school hours.
    • Anyone who has been incarcerated at the Ocean County Jail or in any State Prison at any point in time will not be approved as an outside visitor for a contact visit.
    • Requests shall not be approved for inmate trustees if the requested time conflicts with their scheduled working hours.
    • If an inmate is notified he has a regular visitor and is scheduled for a contact visit that same day, he should refuse the regular visit because he or she will lose the contact visit unless it has been canceled as stated above.
    • Inmates found with prohibited items in connection with a contact visit will lose their contact visits for one year.
    • Inmates found guilty of criminal drug, institutional drug or alcohol related offenses in connection with a contact visit will lose contact visits permanently.
    • Any inmates that are found guilty of an institutional disciplinary while attending a contact visit will have their contact visits suspended for the rest of the inmate’s current incarceration.
    • Inmate found guilty of assault on any staff member or officer will lose contact visiting permanently.
    • Approved inmates must be housed within the general population of the jail. If an approved inmates housing changes between the time of approval and the time of a contact visit, the inmate will be denied the scheduled contact visit until they are rehoused in general population. Reasonable accommodation will be made to notify the inmates visitors, but the responsibility of notification to the visitor shall remain on the inmate.
