Fire Marshal's Office

The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s office duties and responsibilities are set forth the N.J.A.C. 40A:14-1. Those responsibilities include:

To act in an advisory capacity to all fire companies/departments in the County;
conduct fire investigations pertaining to the cause and origin of fires;
conduct or review studies pertaining to the elimination of fire hazards;
conduct fire safety inspections for all county owned buildings under the New Jersey Uniform Fire Safety Act;
if requested, accept the responsibility of the fire safety inspection agency for a municipality or fire district under the New Jersey Uniform Fire Safety Act;
act as the training administrator of county training facilities and coordinate training programs with fire departments, agencies and established training committees;
offer assistance to families, units of government and mental health agencies including law enforcement for intervention in juvenile fire setting incidents;
provide for the prevention of fire hazards and initiate programs for public awareness;
provide fire departments with such assistance as necessary to coordinate, control or extinguish and fire situation or other emergency when requested by the incident commander or fire chief.
