The Ocean County Homelessness Trust Fund and Task Force were established pursuant to New Jersey P.L. 2009 Chapter 123, which allows counties to raise funds to address homelessness. On July 6, 2023, the Board of Commissioners adopted an ordinance to create the Ocean County Homelessness Trust Fund, which is financed through a $5 surcharge on eligible documents recorded in Ocean County.
The Task Force’s role is to provide oversight and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on funding allocations based on Ocean County's Plan to Address Homelessness. The Task Force will also coordinate its efforts with local advisory bodies, including the Ocean County Homeless Prevention and Assistance Coalition and the Ocean County Human Services Advisory Council, to ensure a collaborative approach within the local system of care.
