Security Department

Bike Patrol

Supervisor Joseph Jubert #36-39, Bike Team Supervisor
Senior Guard John Golubowski #36-63, Bike Team Leader
Senior Guard David Russo #36-50, Bike Maintnance Coordinator

The Ocean County Security Department has a Bicycle Patrol Team that is utilized for Patrol of County Parks and Events. Bicycle patrol is an alternate form of patrolling that utilizes basic riding skills in conjunction with specialized tactics that are specific to security and parks operations.

Why have a Bicycle Patrol?
  • To improve the park patron/security relationship without sacrificing response time.
  • Bicycles have no difficulty maneuvering around obstacles or patrolling areas that are impossible to patrol with a vehicle.
  • Bikes allow quick and quiet patrol of areas previously accessible only to foot patrol
  • Officers on Bikes are found to be more accessible and approachable than motorized patrols.

The Bike Team also holds Bicycle Safety Classes and Demonstrations for schools and youth organizations. These classes can be scheduled by contacting the Security Department at (732) 929-4712 or emailing joejubert@co.ocean.nj.us

Security officers go through specialized training to be members of this specialized team. Bicycle team members can be easily identified by their uniforms. The community can expect to see the team members throughout the park system, the rail trail and many of the County sponsored events during the warmer months.
