The Training Center

From firefighters to emergency medical technicians, from law enforcement to Ocean County Vocational-Technical students, the Training Center, under the leadership of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners provides a top-notch learning experience for all of the men and women who give so much back to this great County.



FIREFIGHTER 1 begins SEPTEMBER 2024

A Company Line Officer MUST attend the Orientation Class with their trainees.

New Trainees MUST BE 18 Years Old prior to the start of Class.

Firefighter classes will be held Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Saturdays

Fire Academy

FIREFIGHTER 2 - Enroll Now

This 80 - hour course is designed for the certified and experienced firefighter. Consisting of both lecture and hands-on, this course is designed to meet the NFPA standard for Firefighter II as well as the NJ requirements for Firefighter II certification. CONTENT: Burn Awareness, Flammable and Ignitable Gas situations, Foam Operations, Hydrant Operations, Hazardous Materials, Awareness Refresher, Emergency sCBA Procedures, Special Rescue Situations, Building Collapse, Extrication Tools and Equipment, Fire Cause/Determination, Firefighter Safety, Firefighter Wellness, Fire Department, Communications, Fire Suppression Tactics, High Rise Tactics, Rope Rescue. Each participant will be required to complete and pass a 100 question written examination at the end of the course. This course is physically demanding in nature. MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES

EMS Training

New emergency medical technicians are put through their paces at the Ocean County Training Center in Waretown. In order to become an EMT, students need to complete 200 hours of classroom study and rigorous hands-on training in order to meet their EMT basic requirements and receive their certification.
