Consumer Protection

If you have a problem with a business in Ocean County that you are unable to resolve, feel you are a victim of Identity theft or consumer fraud, you may file a complaint in our office, or we can direct you to the proper agency that can help with your complaint.

Complaint forms are available by calling our office Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm at 732-929-2105, or you can download a complaint form from this website.

Consumers may also inquire to see if there were any complaints filed against an Ocean County business.

Public speaking engagements are a very important function in the daily schedule of this office. The director or a representative will speak to consumer groups on subjects such as: Identity Theft, Senior Fraud, and Hiring Home Improvement Contractors.

The distribution of consumer educational material and participation in organized events, such as senior expos, health fairs, and programs in the school system, provides direct communications with the residents of Ocean County.

Inspections are done by our investigators to enforce certain product recalls, and Credit Card Task Forces and Auto Task Forces have been created at this time to ensure consumers are not being taken advantage of.

We now have a satellite office at Southern Ocean County Resource Center at 179 South Main Street in Manahawkin. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.
