PREA Compliance Statement
The Ocean County Department of Juvenile Services is in full compliance with the requirements, guidelines, and philosophy of the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003(PREA). Our department has long embraced the principles supported by the PREA act. The Juvenile Detention Center strictly enforces a “zero-tolerance policy” toward sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and/or sexual intimidation of any kind, whether it is verbal or physical. Likewise, our department enforces a “zero tolerance policy” regarding retaliation from residents or staff towards anyone who reports abusive or harassing behavior, or who cooperates in the investigations thereof.
