[10/20/21] Ocean County Honored With 2021 NJDEP Recycling Award
Click Here to view the DEP's press release. The Ocean County Board of Commissioners and the Dept. of Solid Waste Management have been honored with a 2021 New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Recycling Award in the “Outstanding Educator/Educational Program” category. Ocean County is receiving this award in acknowledgement of its efforts to educate both residents and visitors about Ocean County’s recycling program, through initiatives like our “Recycling Guide For Vacationers (and locals too),” “Recycling Guide For Boaters,” and the “Be Shore To Recycle Right” recycling igloos. Education and outreach efforts, led by the Dept. of Solid Waste Management, have improved the County's overall recycling rate and helped recycling programs capture a greater number of materials, which provides tremendous financial and environmental benefits for Ocean County and its residents. The County accepted their 2021 NJDEP Recycling Award, on behalf of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners and the Ocean County Department of Solid Waste Management, on October 20th during a virtual awards ceremony organized by the Association of New Jersey Recyclers (ANJR).
