Compost Tours and Workshops

To increase awareness and educate residents about the benefits of home composting, Ocean County has developed a Composting Demonstration Site at its Northern Recycling Center. Ocean County residents have expressed interest in backyard composting and support the environmental benefits composting provides; this demonstration site further allows residents to see those benefits up close.

The demonstration site is located next to the Ocean County Recycling Education Center and is open to the public Monday through Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Entrance at 800 Towbin Ave, follow the signs for the Education Center.

The site displays various types of home composting units, in a garden setting, and contains an information kiosk describing the composting process and providing educational literature for visitors.
